Our Staff - Sherman Home Inspections, Inc.

Barbara E. Sherman, owner, works in the office attending to all the details of running the business. Often found on the phone, she is known for her willingness to answer questions and give information to clients and non-clients alike. While booking an inspection, she thoroughly explains what is included in Sherman Home Inspections, Inc.'s inspection process and what additional services are offered. She has successfully completed a 2 day Residential Radon Measurement Service Provider course put on by the National Radon Proficiency Program for NEHA (National Environmental Health Association). She regularly attends the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) New England evening meetings and seminars with her staff to keep up with new developments in the home inspection industry and building trades. She has taught numerous First Time Homebuyers' Seminars, speaking on the importance of a home inspection and related services, and has been asked to speak at various real estate office meetings on inspection related topics.

Guy Occhino

Guy Occhino of Attleboro, MA, has been an inspector for Sherman Home Inspections, Inc. since 1985. With an electrical and building trades background, he holds his Massachusetts Home Inspector License (157), has successfully completed a 2 day Residential Radon Measurement Service Provider course put on by the National Radon Proficiency Program for NEHA (National Environmental Health Association), Massachusetts Certified Pool Operator's License, Massachusetts DEP Certified Title V Inspector, Massachusetts Construction Supervisor's License, and ASHI Home Inspector Certification (10763). With over 20 years of experience in the home inspection profession and an average of 40 hours per year of seminars or courses in home inspection related fields, he's ready to evaluate and educate you about the purchase of your home. Guy's goal is that you become a well-informed consumer enabling you to make an informed decision in your purchase.

Howard Shumway of East Freetown, MA is the newest member of the team. Starting with the company in March of 1999 with a background in the electrical and building trades, he trained under Guy Occhino and has taken innumerable courses relating to the home inspection industry. He is an ASHI candidate (#205797). He also holds a MA Electronic Technician license, has done design planning, and has worked on many home and commercial building projects. Howard is an advisor of a school building project for Mullein Hill Christian Academy in Lakeville, MA.

Mark J. Nardone

Mark J. Nardone is a Massachusetts DEP certified Title V Inspector with over seven years experience in all types of systems including commercial and residential. He provides the homeowner with an honest, thorough, and impartial inspection of an existing septic or cesspool system and discusses his findings with the client at the completion of the inspection. Reports are often given on site.

An electronic locator and metal detector are available for locating the existing system. A small backhoe is also available for excavation and small repairs such as riser installations, pipe repairs, and sanitary tee replacements or installations if necessary.
